Campaign overview
Strategy translated into focused media execution.
The Objective
Premium baked goods and cake brands often enjoy high passive engagement—users easily double-tap visually appealing content—but struggle to convert that passive scrolling into active community participation and first-party data capture. The objective for this campaign was to rapidly scale the brand's engaged, local audience through a highly incentivized social competition, without relying on a massive media budget.
To achieve this, the campaign targeted high-affinity dessert consumers, local food enthusiasts, and active social media users who matched the brand's ideal customer profile.
The Strategy
We built a frictionless competition mechanism fueled by strategic, low-cost paid social seeding. The goal was to use the inherent visual appeal of the cakes to trigger immediate action and organic virality.
>Visual-First Social Seeding: Deployed precision, crave-inducing social ads (Meta and TikTok) to push the competition out to high-intent audiences, immediately jumpstarting momentum and organic reach.
>Frictionless Entry Mechanics: Designed a high-conversion entry path that required following the brand and submitting user details, guaranteeing both immediate social growth and valuable first-party data collection for future seasonal promotions.
>Viral Loops: Structured the competition rules to encourage sharing and tagging fellow dessert lovers. This multiplied organic reach and drastically reduced the effective Cost Per Acquisition (CPA) for each new participant.
>Dynamic Budget Allocation: Actively managed the minimal ad budget, shifting spend in real-time toward the specific creatives (e.g., specific cake flavors or designs) and audience segments generating the cheapest contest entries.
Measuring Success & Continuous Optimization
Performance was measured by looking past standard vanity metrics to focus on the actual cost of acquiring a participant and the retention rate of new followers. By continuously monitoring the viral coefficient—how many free organic entries each paid entry generated we were able to keep ad investment at an absolute minimum while scaling reach.
The Results
The campaign proved that pairing highly visual CPG creatives with a structured social activation can drive massive community growth and engagement without requiring an inflated advertising budget.
>5,000+ active participants acquired over the course of the competition.
>35% total growth in the brand's follower base, successfully retained post-campaign for future marketing initiatives.
>Achieved maximum audience scale and first-party data capture with minimal media investment.
